Want to improve your skills to identify and assess the different types of crisis such as suicide intervention and counselling dangerous clients?
Life is not always easy. It has a way of pulling the rug out from under our feet and leaving us feeling traumatized, lost and sometimes very isolated. Though trauma cannot always be avoided, it can be mitigated. That's the idea behind crisis intervention.
College of Allied Educators proudly presents certified intensive course on “CRISIS INTERVENTION”

This module trains the students to employ the different intervention methods when counselling a person in a crisis situation.
Students will acquire skills to identify and assess the different types of crisis such as suicide intervention and counselling dangerous clients. This module trains the students to employ the different intervention methods when counselling a person in a crisis situation.
This module introduces students to the exciting counselling aspect that is Crisis Intervention. We are exposed to the role of “Crisis Intervener” more often than we imagine during the course of daily living. But here we shall take a closer look at the issue from a professional counsellor’s perspective. The question we want to answer is: “How can you be an effective helper when dealing with individuals who have just experienced a major trauma in their lives?”
The module seeks to introduce the student to the psychological impact of trauma and its implications for health, educational and welfare professionals. It also seeks to familiarise students with the range of skills and intervention strategies employed in trauma and crisis management.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
Describe the impact and implications of trauma and crisis on clients;
Critically evaluate current intervention approaches to the management of crisis and trauma;
Identify the range of settings and circumstances where crisis, trauma intervention and counselling skills may be required
Demonstrate competency in crisis intervention skills.
The nature of the course assumes strong classroom participation as key points will be delivered in power point presentations and practical sessions. Various class practices will be employed to deepen the student’s understanding on self and the dynamics of the Crisis Intervention process.
